Thomas Smith’s Trugs have been making Traditional Sussex Trugs since Thomas Smith invented them in 1829 and are the original makers. Trugs are general purpose gardening baskets and come in many styles for use in garden and home. Made using locally coppiced Sweet Chestnut and Cricket Bat Willow from sustainable UK sources.
True Making Appreciation courses run twice yearly at the Weald and Downland Open Museum at Singleton, Sussex; once a year at Buckingham Summer School and occasionally at our workshops in Magham Down, Herstmonceux. The two day courses allow for a relaxed and enjoyable experience making a Trug to take home!
