Creative basketry: coiling
By Kim WinterCoiling is one of the oldest basketry techniques, where material is wrapped and stitched around a core. A basket is formed by spiralling the core upwards from a flat base.
Over nine evenings tutor Kim Winter will teach you the difference between a covered core and exposed core, as well as different stitching techniques, which give the basket different textures. You will experiment with different materials for the core and stitching, and also learn how to create patterns by changing colour.
Through inspiring samples and presentations you will also learn how coiling is used around the world and in contemporary craft. Suitable for complete beginners. For more information and to book see https://www.morleycollege.ac.uk/courses/course/creative-basketry-coiling/
