I have been a freelance artist and illustrator since 1997. I have a B.A in graphics and illustration and an MA in visual communications. I live in a rural town called Belper in Derbyshire.
I have been using willow in my work for over 7 years and I now create Willow sculptures. I have worked on many commissions including work for the National Trust, Wildlife Trust and Derbyshire County Council. My favourite subjects to weave are animals and wildlife.
In the sculptures I create I aim to bring out the character of the creature, using my illustrative knowledge and influence. I work in great detail and look to express movement, colour and capture the essence of the animal I am making.
I also like to make free form shapes and structures that have movement and an organic feel to them.
At my studio in Cromford, Derbyshire I teach Willow weaving and sculpture workshops and taster days.
Also I work with community groups, schools and private organisations. I have worked on many community projects, helping people to create their own sculptures for events and festivals.
I mainly work to commission and sell in galleries.
