About
Formed in 1975 the Basketmakers’ Association is the UK’s leading organisation for basketry and related crafts. Run by volunteers, our members are basketmakers, chair seaters, fibre artists, growers, collectors and others with an interest in basketry.
The Basketmakers’ Association promotes basketry and related crafts, such as chair seating and fibre art, by:
- Organising courses and events to teach basketry skills and share knowledge about basketry.
- Facilitating networking by basketmakers in the UK and internationally.
- Promoting and running exhibitions of members’ work.
- Working to preserve our traditional craft heritage by supporting learning and research about basketry.
- Supporting members through a journal, which appears 3 times a year, professional courses and advocacy for basketry.
- Encouraging new ideas in basketry and innovative design.
Benefits of membership include:
- Access to our Makers’ section to promote your business and skills.
- Access to our group product and public liability insurance scheme.
- Access to bursaries for members
