Deb Harvey
Evie, Orkney, KW17 2PH BiographyHaving lived in beautiful Dumfries and Galloway for 20 years, and now residing in the magical Isles of Orkney, I have been spoilt by being surrounded by incredible landscapes and an abundance of natural resources. What can be better than being able to utilise nature's provision to create beautiful, unique and useful objects.I feel moved and inspired by my surroundings and try to reflect that in whatever I make.I began my willow journey by enrolling on an online course. Not being able to access local classes/workshops, I am largely self taught. I was interested in resurrecting my long suppressed need to be creative and have experienced a huge sence of fulfillment that comes from making what we need for ourselves with our own two hands, which continues to motivate me.I love the fact that I can use natural materials, which are not harmful to our planet, create aesthetically beautiful items, which have a practical use, and can continue to learn new techniques and skills that are rooted in the history of mankind, and, pass this on to others.
