Candide Simard
BiographyI weave with the long needles of pine trees, a craft not very commonly seen in the UK.
Weaving with pine needles involves coiling and stitching rows upon rows of needles. It is easy to create intricate patterns by varying stitches, or adding beads. Shapes can vary. I also like incorporating shells, driftwood, seeds, anothing collected from nature. I am a budding potter and like mixing clay and pine needles, the two materials complement each other nicely.
It is a slow, meditative craft that fosters both creativity and a sense of calm.
I run workshops and make baskets on commission.
