Shipyard Weaving
BiographyAnne Holden is a Duxbury, MA-based artist with over 30 years of creative experience. A professional photographer by trade, she expanded her practice in 2023 to embrace the Nantucket Lightship basketry tradition. Since then, she has created more than 100 baskets and 300 bracelets, transforming the historic craft with her signature use of bold color, pattern, and contemporary design.
Anne’s work has been featured at regional art markets and fairs, as well as the New Bedford Whaling Museum in 2024. In 2025, she began teaching weaving workshops with the Nantucket Historical Association and beyond, sharing both her technical knowledge and her belief in the slow, meditative process of handcraft as a form of self-expression and connection.
Each piece Anne creates is rooted in tradition yet reimagined for modern life—woven with intention, color, and a spirit of originality that reflects both the coastal history of New England and her own artistic voice.
