Angela Firth – Bojorrow Baskets

Higher Bojorrow, Garras, Helston, Cornwall, TR12 6LN Biography

I moved to Cornwall in 2008. Initially we lived in the beautiful village of Coverack, and it was here that I went on my first willow weaving course where I made a rather wonky fruit basket - I was hooked.  In 2011 we finally moved into our forever home where I’m fortunate to have land enabling me to establish my own withy beds - I love that I can harvest and put to use beautiful willow grown within a few hundred meters from my door and work out of my workshop located in the same field where I look out onto my withy beds and countryside around me. I am inspired by the countryside around me and the sea and beaches where I swim most mornings. In 2022 I embarked on the City & Guilds qualification where I graduated with distinction. I have also been awarded a place by the Basketmakers Association on the Cockpit Arts Professional Developement Programme. I make a wide variety of baskets and structures and love both the structured patterns of traditional baskets and also free flow sculpture. I love to teach others and pass on skills to future aspiring weavers and regularly run courses in my local area. Private tuition can also be provided for beginner and intermediate weavers.
