Jacqueline Rolls

Southampton, Hampshire, so18 2lg Biography

My creations are created with materials that I have either grown myself, purchased from other growers, gathered or salvaged myself. There is something quite special about working with a material that was once a living thing or is now being transformed and given a new purpose,  I often feel as if I am breathing new life into my creations.

Working in this way is akin to drawing and painting in many ways, layering, shaping, constraining and feeling free to express myself and make new discoveries I sometimes incorporate other materials into my work, including metal when it is needed, for strength and when needed for public artworks etc to give it additional strength.  I also enjoy the challenge of creating bespoke pieces that require me to be more contained and create something that meets a brief, When I am creating artwork based on something that already exists I am just as happy creating in a quirky fun style as I am a realistic naturalistic style

I   love sharing my passion for creating with others, and also provide a  range of workshops that I arrange myself as well as in partnership with other organisations, I work with a variety of different clients and organisations and have lots of experience delivering bespoke public art and activities relating arts participation, engagement projects, well-being projects etc
