Jane Welsh

With over 20 years of experience in basket making and teaching, I live and work in mid Devon. I run courses in traditional basketry for beginners and intermediate makers throughout the South West.

I feel ardently about protecting the knowledge of our traditional rural crafts that are so much a part of our heritage. My background is in arts and crafts. Having originally studied art, design and cabinet making, I then worked in traditional timber framing, dabbled in stone masonry and stained glass, and then became hooked on basket making, mainly learning from the much respected Gloucestershire basket maker Sheila Wynter.
