Karen Milam

305 Bowers Avenue, Norwich, Norfolk, NR32PP Biography

I hail from Sussesx but now live in Norwich. I started basket making a few years ago as I wanted to learn a traditional craft that I could do during Tudor re-enactments at Kentwell Hall in Suffolk where I am a regular participant. Having made baskets as a hobby for a while I'm now starting to broaden my skillset and knowledge with the hopes of turning it into a full time occupation in the future. I currently specialise in making handbaskets and Peds suitable for a range of re-enactment periods. My day job is as a Technician at Norwich University of the Arts, as a media technician so I'm used to doing equipment demos and technical instruction for individuals and groups and have started instructing beginner level basket makers, running sessions making willow stars, berry baskets and small hand baskets.
