Biography

Inspired by the natural beauty in the landscape around me in the Scottish Borders I create beautiful baskets out of willow, bark, soft fibre cordage and pine needles.

I have been fortunate to learn basketry on the City and Guilds Level 2 and 3 courses at Westhope College, as well as from many renowned makers in the UK, Ireland, Denmark, Spain and the US.

Formerly an educator, I love sharing my passion for basketry in my workshops for beginners and intermediate basketmakers. Most recently I have designed and taught a nine month progressive frame basket module on behalf of Northumbria Basketry Group. Further modules are in development for round and oval stake and strand basketry and coiled basketry.

I’m a member of Northumbria Basketry, the Scottish Basketmakers Circle and the Basketmakers Association.
