Makers

Katy Bremer

Cowdenbeath, Fife, Biography
I picked up my first handful of bendy sticks in 2021, and since then, have struggled to put them down!

I am now a full time basketmaker, and I have been lucky enough to have a few 1-1 sessions learning from John Cowan, which has been invaluable for learning more traditional techniques, and really sharpening up my skills, knowledge and confidence. I have also attended group classes with renowned basketmakers such as Anne Mette Hjornholm and Eddie Glew.

I studied contemporary art in college which has allowed me to think in a more "outside the box" kind of way, and now that I'm familiar with many weaves and techniques, I can confidently weave close to anything, from traditional, strong utilitarian baskets to masks, boats and everything in between - I am yet to find my limit, so I welcome discussions into whatever project you might have in mind.

You are welcome to visit the workshop by appointment to purchase baskets - alternatively keep your eyes peeled on my social media for upcoming markets, stock drops on my website, and newly released courses.
