Katy Bremer

Cowdenbeath, Fife, Biography

I completed a beginners one-day course in 2021, and since then, I have never stopped!

Except from my initial course, I have done most of my learning through reading many books on the subject and watched countless hours of online videos, including online zoom tutorials with Eddie Glew, the wealth of knowledge by Hanna van Aelst on YouTube, and video tutorials by Ane Lyngsgaard - I am constantly putting it all into practise and honing my skills.

I have been lucky enough to have a few 1-1 sessions learning from John Cowan, which has been invaluable for learning more traditional techniques, and really sharpening up my skills, knowledge and confidence.

I studied contemporary art in college before having children, and now that I'm familiar with many weaves and techniques, my interests are veering towards more contemporary style projects, including masks and sculptural pieces.

I am at a stage now where I can sell my wares, take on commissions and teach confidently. I am very open to being more involved in the wider community, and would love to work on community projects with like-minded people who would share their knowledge, equally as much I would love to work with another weaver to bolster up and bounce ideas off each other!
