Lewis Prosser

Lewis Prosser is an absurdist basket-maker based in Penarth, south Wales.

He uses basket-making, performance, and costume design to celebrate ideas of ritual, heritage, and labour in and around the British Isles.

With entertainment and sincerity at its heart, his work is about people, and finding ways to bring them closer together through moments of shared wonder and craftsmanship.

Lewis trained as a Printmaker at the Glasgow School of Art and then later participated in the self-organised course: The School Of The Damned. As a maker he is entirely self taught with experience in straw craft and willow basketry. Prosser works on a commission basis and enjoys making bespoke items in partnership with other artists and makers.
