Louise Rough Around the Hedges Arthur

Louise makes and teaches under the name Rough Around the Hedges. She combines contemporary design and heritage skills with her passion for the environment. Her baskets are hand woven from sustainably grown British willow and often incorporate hedgerow plants, foraged fibres and coppiced wood.

Her basketmaking activities follow the seasons and varied landscape of Hampshire in the South Downs National Park, UK. Creating traditional and contemporary products from willow, rush and hedgerow fibres she aims to weave people and nature together. She also accepts commissions and repairs.
