Hurst Barns, Hurst Lane, Privett, Hampshire, GU34 3PL Biography

Mollie McMillen Professional Basketmaker, bark and plant weaver.

'I have always been drawn to the woods, since a small child it was a place of peace and tranquillity, a place for playing and learning about life.  These connections to the landscape fuelled my desire for an unconventional path in life. I transitioned from nurturing young minds in alternative education to becoming a bushcraft instructor, forging a harmonious connection with nature's resources. Along this transformative journey, I discovered the profound significance of plants and their incredible versatility, propelling me to delve into the craft of weaving tree bark, which forever altered my path.'

Mollie collaborates with designers and individuals on commissioned projects including woven lampshades, exterior work including willow paneling, fence work and planting living willow structures. She makes willow coffins and enjoys the raw creative processes of plant fibre art baskets and bark basketry.

She teaches numerous courses through out the year, undertakes willow repair work and re-seating rush chairs.
