I have been a full-time Basketmaker for 30 years with willow, rush and cane as my main materials. My family harvest rush in waterways of Cambridgeshire and grow willow in the fenland of Ely.

My work is varied in techniques and design and I mostly weave in home grown willows and locally harvested rush. Many of my baskets acknowledge the traditional vernacular baskets of the Cambridgeshire fenland, such as the Oval willow Potato Cob, the plaited and stitched Rush Docky Bag, and the split willow Eel Hives long and slender with a definite waist. Other baskets resemble ancient artefacts such as the Rolling Rush Granary.

I am a Yeoman Basketmaker to The Worshipful Company of Basketmakers, and I teach a broad range of Basketry skills, some very traditional in look and technique others with a far more experimental focus.

I also teach Pilates and Yoga and am a Breath Coach so I aim for the learning experience to be a calm, mindful one.

I have a core collection of baskets that I make on a regular basis, but also weave commissions for private individuals and film production companies.

Currently I sell direct from my studio, make to commission and have work at The Ink Pot Gallery, Ely. Haddenham Arts Centre and The Brett Gallery, Monks Eleigh, Suffolk.A small range of my work is also available on The Green Pebble online Artisan Marketplace.

All designs are my own and I love to create functional baskets and vessels with traditional techniques that are pleasing to look at and use.
