I started actually weaving willow for the first time in 2021. My first basket was with poorly prepared and selected willow and my instructions were via a video from Hannah van Aelst. It got me hooked. So far, I seem to be productive only when I accept a deadline or attend a course or event and I aim to make more in 2024. I love the work, the materials, and the things I can now make. I regard the Ruskin ethic to be a good guide - Useful or Beautiful - and I’m drawn to make things that meet both these aims. So far, I’m not prolific, but I’m determined to improve and learn more.
