Sally Roach

253 Hills Roach, Cambridge, Cambs, CB2 8RP Biography

I am inspired by the world around me - particularly plants, beaches, landscapes and things I come across during my travels.  Colour and materials are almost always my starting point and they determine technique.  I often only have a vague idea of the final form when I am starting to work.  I use all sorts of natural and recycled/repurposed materials but particularly enjoy using painted paper, embroidery thread and yarns and cane - in part because the colour palette is up to me.

I completed the 2 Year City & Guilds Creative Basketry course at City Lit 2011-2013 and was made a Yeoman of the Worshipful Company of Basketmakers in 2018.
