Sarah Hatton – Hatton Willow

Caerphilly, Biography

Based in Caerphilly, South Wales, Sarah of Hatton Willow is a willow weaver who understands the intricacies of weaving with willow.

Sarah Hatton has 16 years of experience in the art of willow weaving. Specialising primarily as a skilled willow basket maker proficient in both traditional and contemporary styles, she also crafts willow coffins and sculptures, imparts her knowledge through teaching basket weaving, and practices the craft of chair seating.

Sarah's passion extends to cultivating her own willow, which she integrates into her basketry. Presently, she offers willow cuttings for sale and is in the process of expanding her existing willow coppice to become a local Welsh supplier of a limited quantity of willow bundles.

Sarah is the expert in basketmaking featured on the BBC1 programme, The Repair Shop.
