Cecilia Talbot

St. Newlyn East, Newquay, Cornwall, Biography

Working from my studio which sits at the very centre of our Cornish smallholding, close to the North Cornish coast, I work with willow and oak to create a range of lighting, statement baskets and feature wall pieces. Working primarily with my own Cornish grown willow, supplemented on occasion by Somerset rods, and using characterful chunks and staves of oak, each product is one of forethought, focus and attention to detail. Using my hands and the same tools used by basketmakers for hundreds of years my aim is to deliver a refined design that is tactile, draws the eye and yet remains perfectly functional; a feature both ornamentally and in use.

In addition to weaving and creating with wood, I also teach, focusing on bringing the joy of basketmaking to the beginner with three different options; basketry experience day, basketry school and celebration weave. All information about which is right for you can be found on my website, where bookings can be made.
