The Basketmakers’ Association is looking for a reliable, part-time Accounts Assistant to support our financial administration. This flexible, home-based role involves working closely with our Treasurer on day-to-day tasks. Join us as we celebrate our 50th year and help support the work of our vibrant craft community.

Accounts Assistant

  • £5,000 per annum
  • Self employed
  • Home Working
  • Flexible working/ 200 hours per annum (expected to be 4 hours per week with flexibility to do more during busy times such as year end and membership renewal period)
  • Length of Contract: 12 month self employed contract with potential to extend
  • Own laptop and internet access required

Summary

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Accounts Assistant to support our fast growing Membership Organisation. This role will be an integral part of the organisation, handling the day-to-day accounts. This is a part-time home-based role, working alongside the BA Treasurer.

Responsibilities

  • Monthly Bank reconciliations
  • Create, Process, monitor & pay invoices
  • Collate information required and answer any queries from the Treasurer
  • Ensure year end accounts ready for external audit
  • Continual review of processes to make them more efficient
  • Be sensitive to the particularity of a Membership organisation
  • Able to meet deadlines, multi-task and work with a high volume of transactions
  • Be flexible and able to use own initiative
  • Work alongside other team members to ensure holiday & absence cover is provided
  • Work within GDPR and other relevant legislation

Person Specification

  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills
  • Xero, PayPal, banking apps, Microsoft Excel, Google Drive and Stripe experience or willing to learn
  • Perseverance and attention to detail
  • Good organisational skills
  • Adaptable and flexible
  • Excel competent
  • Able to meet deadlines, multi-task and work with a high volume of transactions
  • Ideal applicants will have an AAT or similar qualification
  • Work within GDPR and other relevant legislation
