50th anniversary talk – Chair seating, a talk by Rachael South

This recorded talk from Rachael South as she shares the story of her fascinating life as a third-generation chair caner and seat weaver. Taught by her father, she now specialises in restoring antique and modern furniture, as well as creating contemporary woven seats using materials ranging from traditional cane and skeined willow to leather and wire. Her work has been exhibited in the UK and includes collaborations with designers and larger companies, and she loves passing on her skills through teaching in both the UK and the USA.
