Neolithic Briading Workshop
By Anna Corbett
Neolithic braiding, also called continuous braiding, is one of the most ancient basketry techniques known in Europe. Starting with a straight or circular base, we will make small pockets and bags, adding simple borders and handles according to individual preference. We will use mainly rush, but this technique is also perfect for exploring other types of soft fibres.
This extended weekend workshop is an opportunity to develop your basketry skills, linked to the rhythm of the seasons, and to take a look at the folklore and traditions associated with the plants we use.
Timing: 13-15 March: Friday, 1-4. Saturday, 10-4. Sunday, 10-4
Cost: £225 / £200
Suitable for beginners and more experienced makers; small group for individual attention
