A log basket in coloured willows
Anna is an Edinburgh based basketmaker, who grows and cuts her own willow. She teaches extensively in the city and beyond and sells her work in galleries around Scotland, and , through her online presence , around the world. Anna has also been the basketry tutor at Poldrate Arts and Crafts Centre since 2014, where she teaches one of the few progressive willow basketmaking courses in the UK. Passionate about environmental issues, local materials and traditional basketmaking, she has recently won a Craft Scotland’s Established Maker Programme Award in order to develop new courses and skills.
Anna will teach a log basket based on a traditional one-bushel basket, with the addition of a foot border. She will bring her own organically grown Scottish willows for students to use in the sidings, and they will have the opportunity to experiment with colour and with various weaves, to work with larger willows, and to develop and improve their skills with borders and twisted rod handles.
