50th Anniversary – 10 top tips to growing basketry willow with Justine Burgess
By The Basketmakers' AssociationCelebrate the Basketmakers’ Association 50th Anniversary with a series of talks
On Thursday 6th February we will be welcoming Justine Burgess from West Wales Willow in the second of our series of talks exclusively for BA members.
Have you ever wished you could grow your own willow for basketmaking and weaving? Perhaps you already grow willow and would like to find out more about managing pests and diseases?
This session is designed to help members succeed in planting and nurturing their own basketry willow, even in small spaces.
Join Justine, owner of West Wales Willows, as she shares her top 10 tips for growing and shares her successes and failures and will include details of willow you may not have considered for basketry. The workshop will be followed by a Q & A session.
Justine Burgess is a willow weaver, teacher and grower and holds the National Collection of Salix/willow. Passionate about using her own willow in her creations, Justine grows over 260 varieties and has been featured on BBC Gardeners’ World and in Period Living Magazine.
Tickets: £5.00
You will receive a link to the Zoom talk a few days before the talk and a recording for your personal use after the event. If you are unable to attend on the night you can buy a ticket, and we will send you the recording and watch the talk at your leisure.
