This weave, which fascinates me, is known by different names in other countries where it is traditionally used.  We will start with the simplest version: 2 twining elements on a fairly stiff set of stakes.

One of these elements sits either inside or outside the stakes and is bound by the second element, which needs to be flexible.  We will go on to variations, gradually becoming more complex as we go.  It is perfectly possible to spend the weekend exploring the simplest method.

We can use a wide variety of materials from many sorts of thread, natural materials, such as fine rush, chair canes willow skein and long, strappy leaves, which can be cut into strips.

Suitable for students with some experience of basketmaking.
