BA Spring School 2022 Rush – from floor to table
By Clair Murphy
-
Clarence Drive, Harrogate, UK
English freshwater bulrush,’Scirpus lacustris’, still grows abundantly along England’s rivers. When the bulrush dries naturally, vivid colours emerge and during this course Clair will show students how best to handle and prepare it, to create all sorts of lovely products from bath mats to bread bowls, baskets and cushions using plaiting and weaving over moulds.
The course is suitable for beginners and experienced weavers who want to learn more intricate weaves. It will be possible to make a number of items over the duration of the course with Clair’s s excellent teaching and enthusiasm.
Suitability: All levels
Cost of materials: There will be a small charge for the rush used
