Beginners’ Basketmaking Course: Module 1 – January-April 2025

10am – 5pm each day over Four Saturdays: 11 January / 15 February / 22 March / 26 April 2025

This is the first of three module of my Beginners’ Basketmaking Course which is designed for complete beginners, or those with a little previous experience, who wish to learn how to weave baskets independently and confidently. 

The course takes you methodically through all the various processes involved in making round baskets of various shapes and sizes, in a slow, progressive and comprehensive manner.

In this first module we concentrate on controlling the willow to create neat and perfect bases onto which we insert side stakes and weave the sides of the basket, culminating in a variety of trac borders and simple handles. 

The subsequent two modules focus on new weaves and borders, different shapes and various handles. These modules are only available to those who have completed Module 1. 

This Module 1 Course (and the subsequent Modules 2 and 3) will be on Saturdays. Dates for Module 2, which will start in September 2025 have yet to be agreed.
