Frame Basket Making Workshop

By Rebecca Board
-
The Round Tower at Black Swan Arts

During this workshop we will be making frame baskets of hoop and rib construction.  These types of baskets were traditionally more likely to be made locally by people such as travellers, farmers, or fishermen for their own use, rather than being produced in large quantities by professional basket makers.

There will be several different types of Somerset grown willow available for you to work with, so you can mix the natural shades of the barks / woods if you wish.

Class size will be limited to a maximum of 6 people, to ensure that everyone gets plenty of individual attention.

The course costs £120.00, which includes tuition, use of tools, and tea, coffee and home made cake mid morning.  You will need to bring lunch with you for the first day of the course, or treat yourself to something from the River House Café.

Both beginners and improvers are welcome.

Tutor Rebecca Board has over twenty years experience of making baskets and teaching her craft.  She will guide you through the weaves and techniques on the course.

Advance booking with payment is essential.  If you would like to book, or need any further information, please do get in touch on [email protected]
