Guernsey baskets courses at Makers Barn Petworth 9-10 May 2025

Learn how to make a Guernsey ponier à cou – a traditional fishing basket – with Claire Gaudion at Makers Barn, Petworth. Makers Barn is an amazing place on the edge of Petworth, championing rural crafts.

All materials and tools, plus tea and coffee and a delicious lunch will be provided.

Enjoy a wonderful couple of days in an idyllic rural setting. We will be working outdoors, under shelter for rain or shine, and taking in the incredible views of West Sussex countryside while we weave.

Making a ponier à cou involves working with wood, wire and willow and a selection of hand held tools, and strong hands. That said, it is suitable for beginners or those with willow experience and you will go away with a wonderful hand made basket.

The cost is £240 per person.
