Hazel Basket Weaving Course

By Wilderness Folk School
-
Nr Pitlochry, Scotland

Join Lorna and the Wilderness Folk School to weave hazel foraging baskets in a stunning private woodland on the banks of the River Tummel, near Pitlochry, Scotland.

We’ll start by going to select some hazel in the woodland and work through the whole process over four days.

Lorna Singleton, one of the UK’s most accomplished basket weavers, has been weaving hazel since 2016 and now teaches this ancient skill.  Join Lorna on this exciting collaboration which aims to be a 4-day immersion into Hazel Basketry.

The aim of this course is to give you the skills to collect and process hazel into weaveable material and then learn how to weave your own hazel basket.  Lorna will expertly guide you through the process from collecting hazel, processing it into strips, basket design and then finally weaving

The course is woodland based, we’ll be camping in the woodland, and all meals are included (Steven and Hannah are wonderful hosts!)

£645 inc. camping – Fully Catered
