This introduction to basketry will cover some of the main techniques of contemporary soft-fibre basketry, including coiling, checkweave plaiting, twining, random weave, and looping.
Tutor Kim Winter will show you how to work with a range of materials, from yarn and paper to cane and foraged fibres. Beginners will learn the basic techniques and have the opportunity to practise with different materials. Those with more experience can develop their skills further through working on their own projects.
The course runs one day a week (Tuesday) for six weeks at Morley College in London, near Waterloo.
