By Helen Leaf

The Newstead Centre, Tilford Road, Newstead Village, Nottinghamshire, NG15 0BS
Suitable for beginners or as a refresher, this day will cover the basics of straw work and corn dollies.
We start the day by sorting straw and learning suitable knots, then make simple plaits that can be made into harvest favours. We’ll then make a small corn dolly. Overall, this day workshop gives a good grounding in techniques and good practice, and you’ll leave with the skills and knowledge to be able to take this further.
The cost is £67 with a sliding scale, which includes all materials. There’s a café on site, or you can bring your own lunch and refreshments.
