The 4th Weave Away Camp here at Bryn a Môr is set to be a great one! Another amazing international tutor as well as one of England’s best basketry teachers are both coming to far flung West Wales. The course includes delicious homegrown homemade food and top notch tuition. We are also situated on a beautiful wild coastal farm, so you can relax and retreat from everyday life.

Marguerite Herlant is a French basketmaker, who has been trained as a basket weaver at the french basketry school in 2018-2019 in Fayl-Billot. After gaining professional experience at the Villaines-Les-Rochers Cooperative, she opened her own business in 2021. Marguerite is dedicated to traditional techniques, designing sustainable items using willow grown less than 10 kilometers from her workshop.

On this course Marguerite will teach you how to weave a reinforced openwork round basket: inspired by one of the traditional designs that David Drew used to make, this basket is rich in tips and techniques such as a base wale to the left, fitching and pairing, the making of a foot and cranked rope handles.

Intermediate to advanced students.

The class size is limited to 8 to allow for maximum attention and guidance for each student. Materials charged per item made. Fee includes tuition for 2 days from August 8th-9th, times 9.30-5pm each day, as well as a lovely homemade vegetarian lunch and all refreshments.

***If you wish to rent a shepherds hut or camp then please book this as a separate product.
