Willow Basketmaking
By Julie Gurr
-
Iden, Rye, UK
Over two days you can make a basket with a handle for carrying it. Beginners will learn willow weaving techniques including creating a base, pairing, upsetting, waling, creating a border, making finger hole handles or wrapping and attaching a shopping basket type handle. Those with more experience will have a chance to learn a more advanced upsetting technique and try different weaves on the sides.
This is a small group class with a maximum of four people. All my classes use our own willow grown without the use of chemicals and hand harvested
