Hello everyone,
Just want to let you know that a group of ten of us will be holding a weavers gathering and willow basketry, plant cordage and willow sculpture showcase, open to the public, next weekend on Sat 26th of October in GIfford Village Hall, The Square, Gifford, East Lothian EH41 4QJ.
Doors open from 1030 am til 5pm. £3 entry, kids free. There are ten of us getting together, selling our baskets and weaving in situ so that the public and weavers alike can learn more about the wonderful world of willow and basketry.
There will be a small amount of willow for sale (mainly for beginners projects), soaking bags, some lovely Dave Budd basketry tools, gift vouchers and baskets, even seconds!
There will also be a raffle with basketry and non basketry prizes, to help raise funds for Amisfield Walled Garden near Haddington and run by volunteers, who grow their own willow, and need a soaking tank.
Please come along if you are near us, or tell friends who are. It is a lovely excuse for a weaver gathering and a chance to talk baskets!
Coming along to weave we have
Anna Turnbull from near Berwick
Katie Warner from Edinburgh
Rachel Kirk from Perth and Kinross
Janice Hall from Edinburgh
Sandra Scholes from Edinburgh
Katy Bremer from Fife
Anna Corbett from Northumberland
Mary Nairn from Dunbar
Dara Coward from North Berwick
and myself, Jilly Greig, from near Pencaitland, East Lothian
Please come if you are nearby, we would love to see you!
