Willow Pottle Making Workshop – Handmade City for London Craft Week

Craft curator and creative director Catherine Lock has created Handmade City, developed in collaboration with basketmaker Hilary Burns. The Handmade City Walk traces a route through the City, revealing examples of the original creativity that shaped historic London. The walk ends at St Mary-le-Bow, with a demonstration beneath the bell tower, of some of the baskets of Cheapside, the market for historic trades.
The strawberry pottle was for over three hundred years, the disposable container for strawberries and raspberries, sold on the streets. Pottle workshops to weave a willow pottle will take place in St Mary-le-Bow church.
