This is the biggest Weave Away in the 3 years we have been running it, with 3 international tutors teaching a diverse range of weaving skills.

Anne Mette Hjornholm is a very skilled and well known basketmaker from Denmark. She designs baskets and experiments with willow and other natural materials. On this course you can expect to make one basket, or possibly 2 depending on skill and the size of the basket. She will be teaching her unique backpacks, or an open weave shopper or handbag.

Elizabeth Crawford’s work speaks for itself. Exquisite pouches woven of grass and other soft fibres, with found items, for example shells from our beach, used as closures and as decoration. With only 6 students you can dive deep into this magical space of colour and pattern, guided with plenty of support to make your own beautiful little basket & lid.

Our third tutor is the very talented Caroline Gregson. Explore willow sculpture, making one or two sculptures over 3 days, could be a dog, or some birds, or something completely different. Or you can try random weave basketry…or maybe weave a bit of both! Caroline will teach a small class of 6 people allowing for lots of development time with each student.

Fees include tuition for 3 days from August 5th – 7th, times 9.30-5pm each day, as well as a lovely homemade vegetarian lunch and all refreshments.

If you wish to camp or rent a Shepherd’s hut, you can arrive on the evening of the 4th and leave on August 8th, these products need to be added separately.
