Gleaning plant fibres and coiled basketry with artist Fred Branson, at North Aston Organics

Organised around the idea and practice of gleaning, this workshop will explore different plant materials foraged from the organic vegetable farm where artist-grower Fred works. Using crop residues left behind after commercial harvests, attendees will craft small coiled vessels while exploring the often-overlooked abundance that lies beyond the demands of the market and discover the creative potential of freely available materials.

Participants will work with an exciting range of plants, such as carrot, rhubarb, garlic, leek, and rye amongst others, experimenting with their textures and possibilities for coiled basketry, as well as their potential for cordage.

PLEASE NOTE. You need to be a member of the Oxfordshire Basketmakers to attend this workshop. To find out how to become an OB member, further information on this workshop and to book your place please visit the OB website https://www.oxfordshirebasketmakers.com for more information and tickets.
