Willow Frame Basket Making Workshop

During this workshop we will be making frame baskets of hoop and rib construction.  These types of baskets were traditionally more likely to be made locally by people such as travellers, farmers or fishermen for their own use, rather than being produced in large quantities by professional basket makers.  There will be several different types of Somerset grown willow available for you to work with, so you can mix the natural shades of the barks / woods as you wish.

Dates/Times – Saturday 10th October 10:00am – 4:00pm and continuing on Sunday 11th October, 10:00am – 1:00pm.

Venue – The Round Tower at Black Swan Arts

Cost – £115:00 which includes all materials, tuition, use of tools, and teas, coffee, and home-made cake mid-morning.  you will need to bring lunch with you for the first day of the workshop, or treat yourself to something from the Loud Mouth Cafe on site.

Beginners are welcome.

Tutor Rebecca Board has over twenty years experience of making baskets and teaching her craft.  She will guide you through the weaves and techniques to create your basket.

Class size will be up to a maximum of six people, so everyone will get plenty of individual attention.
